Corporate Aikido

The traditional art of Aikido is rooted in the samurai traditions of feudal Japan. Physically the art was used to prepare warriors for physical combat on the battlefield and prepare the mind so the body could perform at its best. From this environment the art of aikido was developed. Its purpose is to never meet power with power but to resolve conflict without injury or aggression and to further explore the development of calm mind under pressure.

Aikido is the art of peace! Its practice instills an inherent calmness and control in the face of confrontation. Its principles teach us to diffuse any difficult moment without the use of aggression. The key is relaxation. The result is a calm, centered person who extends great presence and can think quickly on their feet. Mind and body become one. The skills of aikido are readily transferred to everyday life. Rarely today do we need do battle physically but each day we must meet the challenges of modern life and win the battle within ourselves. Through its philosophy and techniques, aikido brings us into harmony with our environment, other people and ourselves.

The principles of aikido are readily transferable to the corporate environment. Imagine a workforce of confident people, calm under pressure with high levels of concentration and co-ordination, who have the flexibility and energy to meet any challenge. Corporate Aikido is the fun and interesting way to learn effective communication skills, peaceful conflict resolution and to develop high self esteem. Aikido requires no advantage in strength or speed, so it can be practiced by both men and women of all ages and abilities. Our aikido instructors come from diverse backgrounds and are able to present a range of activities suitable for the business world. These include relaxation and mind training, de-stress workshops for staff, weekend retreats and the inclusion of aikido principles as a part of rehabilitation programmes.

Our workshops are physical but not physically demanding, thereby improving health and fitness for all ages.
